Students will examine the historical formation of the Americas through the perspectives of European explorers and Spanish colonizers. This exploration will consider the motivations, cultural influences, and political ambitions that shaped early encounters and territorial expansion. Through critical analysis, students will evaluate the lasting impact of European and Spanish influence on the Americas.

Students will explore the history of the Americas through the perspectives of Indigenous peoples, Latin American communities, and African descendants. This study will center the lived experiences, cultural contributions, resistance movements, and resilience of communities whose voices have often been marginalized in traditional historical narratives.

Students will explore the significance of agriculture and its far-reaching impact on climate sustainability, public health, and the workforce. Through experiential learning opportunities, including a visit to Paul Quinn College’s farm, students will gain insight into innovative practices such as vertical planting. This experience will deepen their understanding of how modern agricultural methods contribute to community and environmental well-being.

Students will develop an understanding of the foundational work required to start and manage a business. The focus will be on building awareness of the skills and preparation necessary for entrepreneurial success. Students will also be encouraged to begin cultivating and applying these skills in meaningful ways now.
